GABION
Gabions are sturdy rectangular or square shaped baskets formed from steel wire mesh. It is strengthened by wire selvedges, or self-finished edges, which prevents the shape from fraying and unravelling, and mesh diagrams, which form its well-known hexagonal-shaped structure.
Gabions are commonly used for retaining walls, which act as an erosion control for mountains and hills that hosts highways and railroads. It can also be used as a channel lining in weir, or a small-scale dam, to control the increase or decrease of water level.
There are two types of wire usually chosen to build the gabion; galvanised wire (GI) or PVC coated wire (Grey Colour).
